Hi Coaches! Welcome to the 2008 soccer season. It is time to kick off the season, the parents and kids are excited and they want to know what team they are on and start practices.

 

If you are a new coach and you are not sure what to do, checkout the *new* Coaches Guide for information to get you started.

 

 

If you have any questions, feel free to contact a board member; we will be happy to help.

 

  • Coaches should be contacting players the week of August 4th to inform them about the team and to give them first practice time
  • Practices start the week of August 18th
  • MNSL 2008 season starts on Tuesday September 2nd

 

  • Opening Day Saturday September 6th
  • Picture Day Saturday September 13th
  • NHSA Coaches Clinic Sunday September 21st at Livingston Park
  • Rivalrly Day with Manchester East Saturday September 27th (U10/U12/U14)
  • U10 Festival in Manchester Saturday October 4th
  • Andy Wilson City Tournament Saturday October 18th and Sunday October 19th
  • American Cup State Tournmanent Saturday October 25th and Sunday October 26th (preliminary rounds).  Championships Saturday November 1st

 

 

MNSL Rules

 

MNSL generally follows the the FIFA Laws of the Game and adheres to US Youth Soccer competitive mandates.  There are a few rules unique to our league which can be found here:

 

U6 Division

Ball size 3
5 v 5, no goalie (may also go 4 v 4 depending on size of teams)
six, six minute periods
ball out of play use kick-ins or dribble in to restart
Coaches referee
All restarts from fouls are indirect kicks (cannot score goal directly from restart)
No offside

PUGG nets MUST be used
Slide tackling not allowed call as dangerous play
All players must play ½ the game

U8 Division

Ball size 3
6 v 6 with goalie
four, ten minute periods
Throw-ins, repeat 1x with instruction, if necessary, then kick-in Coaches referee
All restarts from fouls are indirect kicks (cannot score goal directly from restart)
 No offside
Slide tackling not allowed call as dangerous play
All players must play ½ the game

U10 Division

Ball size 4
8 v 8 with goalie
four, 12 minute periods
throw-ins, repeat 1x with instruction, if necessary. If still incorrect, other team receives ball
All restarts from fouls are indirect kicks (cannot score goal directly from restart).
Offside: not enforced in September (refs will instruct but not enforce), enforced in October (AR will signal offside)
Slide tackling not allowed call as dangerous play
All players must play ½ the game

U12 Division

Ball size 4
11 v 11
two, 25 minute periods
indirect kicks-yes
direct kicks-yes
penalty shots-yes
offsides-begin with first game
yellow and red cards enforced
Slide tackling not allowed call as dangerous play
All players must play ½ the game

U14 Division

Ball size 5
11 v 11
two, 30 minute periods
indirect kicks-yes
direct kicks-yes
penalty shots-yes
offsides-yes, begin with first game
yellow and red cards enforced

U16/U19 Divisions

Ball size 5
11 v 11
two-40 minute periods (U16)
two-45 minute periods (U19)
